Under direct general supervision of Physician and/or Nurse Practitioner, the Licensed Vocational/Practical Nurse (LVN/LPN) is to assist and perform general nursing duties in the course of providing care and treatment of patients in the office setting. Pleasant, courteous disposition with the ability to work with patients as well as employees and physicians. Professional in conduct and appearance.
PURPOSE OF POSITION
Assist Laboratory Supervisor and Laboratory Staff in all aspects of the laboratory including but not limited to:
Multitasking is always a factor.
Instrumentation utilized at the Main Laboratory:
Clinitek Advantus, ACL Elite, Abbott Architect CI8200, Abbott Sapphire, and Beckman Walk-Away 96.
PERSONNEL REQUIREMENT
Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or applied sciences
Must be an MT or CLS registered either (ASCP) or (AMT)
EXPERIENCE
Must have a minimum of 5 years experience as a generalist in a clinical or hospital laboratory
Experience with LabDAQ and NextGEN a plus
Any experience writing procedures or with CLIA or COLA inspection requirements
Must have ARRT and a valid Texas State License.

Must have current license.
To perform the necessary clerical work for recording business transactions within the clinic and contact with departments by telephone regarding questions about these transactions.
Work incoming Hospital tickets turned in on a daily basis by all departments of Main Clinic and Satellite Clinics.
Must check for charges and diagnosis on each form. Be familiar with levels, quantities, etc.
Must make sure appropriate diagnosis are marked for each procedure marked.
Knowledge with CPT and ICD–10 coding.
Must be familiar with Medicare newsletters and medical necessity codes.
Rotate, on a monthly basis, different department hospital charge tickets with co-worker to stay current on various CPT codes by specialty.
Prepare tickets for Data Entry by batching. Hashing of procedure codes, sorting by department/ group/ doctor.
And any other related departmental duties for Data Department.
Works under minimal supervision within general policies and standard practices of the Clinic.
Follows instructions of immediate supervisor.
Attends Clinic and/or department meetings as required.
Other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or Administrator
MINIMUM of 2 years coding experience in a physician office. Prefer certified but will consider if experienced.
Pleasant, friendly disposition with the ability to get along with patients, physicians and co-workers.
Awareness of need for discretion and for keeping confidential all matters relating to the clinic, the employees and the patients.
Intelligence to use judgement and initiative determining course of action with a patient.
